1. Who we are
"Select" (Select Card, select-card.com) is a trading card portfolio app, card grading service and card shop, operating in the United Arab Emirates. This policy covers the Select iPhone app and app.select-card.com, including the grading service.
2. Grading orders
When you send cards for grading we keep your name, WhatsApp number, email, emirate and return address, the cards in the order, and the order's progress. We use them only to run the order: to contact you, return your cards, and answer questions about it. We keep orders as business records, as UAE law requires for invoices.
3. The Select app account
You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a private ID for you and, the first time only, the name and email you choose to share (which may be an Apple relay address). We do not receive your Apple password.
Your portfolio — the cards, slabs and sealed product you add, the prices you paid, your own values and notes — is stored on Select's server so it is the same on any phone. We also keep a daily total of its value to draw your chart. Your portfolio is private: nobody else can see it, and we do not sell or share it.
4. Photos you scan
When you scan a card, the photo is sent to our own server, where our own card-recognition software compares it with pictures of known cards. The photo is not sent to anyone else and is not stored. When you pick the matching card, we keep a numeric fingerprint of that photo (a list of numbers describing how the card looked, from which the photo cannot be rebuilt) to recognise that card better next time; it is not linked to your account.
5. Prices and card data
To value your portfolio our server asks public card databases (pokemontcg.io, TCGdex, TCGplayer via tcgcsv.com) and an exchange-rate service (Frankfurter) for prices. These requests contain card IDs only, never anything about you.
6. Chat
Messages you send in the website chat are kept so we can reply and follow up. Do not send card numbers, passwords or bank details in the chat.
7. No tracking
The website and app have no advertising, no analytics and no third-party trackers. The website uses one cookie only for the staff sign-in.
8. Deleting your data
In the app, go to Account → Delete account. This deletes your account, your sign-in sessions and your whole portfolio immediately, and asks Apple to remove Select from your Apple ID (you can also do this yourself in Settings → Apple Account → Sign in with Apple). Grading orders you made are kept as business records but are no longer linked to an account. To ask about any other data, message us through the website chat or WhatsApp.
9. Backups
To protect against losing data, the server is backed up every night to private storage at Cloudflare (R2). Backups are kept for up to 13 months and then deleted automatically, so data you delete leaves the backups within that time.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be shown in the app.
